Who Is Mike?

Mike - Personal Trainer How long have you been interested and participating in fitness?
 
I have been playing a variety of sports from as soon as I could move. I've played a variety of sports and competed at all different levels representing my schools, college, university, county and semi professional level. I specialised in football, golf, athletics and swimming. I studied sport and exercise science at university and was able to understand training methods and how to put them into practice.



What made you become a Personal Trainer?

During my time at university I had come to terms with injuries and realised I would never realise my dreams of playing sport professionally. At the same time I had developed my physique through my years of different types of training to the point where I was entered into the Mens' health cover model competition (2006) and selected as the winner to appear on the cover of the national magazine. From there on I was thrust into a world of people asking how I achieved my body and what to do in order to help improve their own. For something that came easily to me as a passion I realised I could help others achieve their own athletic/aesthetic goals with my knowledge about how to train sensibly and which exercises worked along with encouragement. I do believe anything is possible with a little hard work and know how having that little bit of extra confidence in how you look and feel can make a huge difference to everyday life.

What are your qualifications?

What type of people do you train?
I will train anyone who is willing to try. Achieving your dream body or reaching the peak of your fitness does take hard work but you can't measure the feelings of satisfaction when you achieve your goal whether it is loosing a few pounds or completing your first 10k run. You will see results within 6 weeks of your program as long as you stick by it. Life can often get in the way but I'm here to keep you on track as best I can.

What do you do in your spare time?

When not training clients I love to be outdoors playing the sports I love or trying to teach myself gymnastics. I love being out and about and enjoy going to the cinema going out with my friends.

What is your favourite meal of the day and what do you have? All meals are my favourite. I love to eat. There is nothing better than having a hard taxing workout then nourishing your body with a healthy satisfying meal. I always eat healthily generally. I love nandos spicy chicken breasts, basically anything spicy as its great for your metabolism. What would be your best tip for people wanting to lose weight or get fit? I don't necessarily believe in the fad diets, I prefer more of a balanced approach which I have found yields the best results as starving your body of key nutrients leaves you in a weakened state and your body is unable to function properly. Get in the kitchen and cook, no excuses good food can be made in a matter of minutes.

Where do you instruct people?

I can instruct you in various locations depending on what suits. I mainly do my one-to-one training sessions at the 4* fully equipped Midland Essential Leisure (at The Midland Hotel) in Manchester city centre, but I can also visit you at home or even at the office for those workaholics. When are you available for one-to-one training? I make myself as available as possible as I know how difficult peoples schedules can be with work getting in the way of us looking after ourselves, after all you only get one body so look after it.

You can book in for a session with me 7 days a week from 6am to 10pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday.
